GOSFEM MATHEMATICS TUG OF WAR

Gosfem invites your school to a school versus school tug of war

Dear Sir/Ma,

Your school is invited to enter as one team. Entry is free. Schools do not pay to take part. Students do not need a Gosfem account. One or two students from your school answer the questions, and a staff member can watch the rope on a second screen.

Prizes

1st 100,000.00 2nd 60,000.00 3rd 40,000.00

Practise before the day. The last page of this pack has the registration form. Practice links are listed on page 3.

How it works

School versus school tug of war

Same questions. One rope. The school that pulls ahead wins the match.

  1. Both schools see the same question at the same time. Nobody can skip ahead.
  2. A correct answer pulls the rope toward that school by 1. A wrong or blank answer does not move the rope.
  3. The question changes when a school answers correctly, or when that question’s time runs out.
  4. The exam lasts 15 minutes. The first school to lead by 10 wins. If time ends first, the school with the higher score wins.
  5. If both schools finish level (a draw), the host starts a Retake for that pair. Scores go back to 0–0. Both schools see a short shared get-ready countdown, then the match is played again on the same links — no need to refresh.
  6. Winners move to the next round. The final decides 1st and 2nd. Semifinal losers can play for 3rd.

On the day

What your school needs

Two screens are enough. One to play. One to watch the rope.

Student screen

Opens the live questions. No Check answer button. Answer, then wait for the next shared question.

Staff screen

Shows both school names, the scores, and the rope. Staff can message the host. At the bottom of this page is Release student screen, for when the student gadget fails.

Hold

Both the student and the staff can press Hold. Each school has 2 holds. Hold freezes the exam timer for both schools. A countdown of 60 seconds starts. The school that used Hold can press Resume early. After Hold ends, both schools see a shared get-ready countdown of about 10 seconds before the exam continues, so neither side gets a head start.

After the match

Both sides can review every question, the correct letter, and what each school chose. Prizes go to the school, not to a single student.

Retake

If the match ends in a draw, or the host needs the pair to play again, Retake resets that pair to 0–0 on the same links. Keep the screens open. Both schools see a shared get-ready countdown of about 10 seconds, then the exam starts again by itself — no refresh needed.

Release

If the play phone or tablet crashes, freezes, or must be swapped, press Release student screen at the bottom of the staff page and confirm. That gadget stops. Open the same play link on the new gadget to continue. The host can also release a play screen from the pairing page.

After your school is accepted, the host will send the student link and the staff link to the phone number or email you leave on the last page.
