Adding and managing school assets

This guide covers Assets in the school admin sidebar. Use it to record school property, lend an item to a staff member, and mark it returned.

Menu: Assets.

Page title: Assets.

Click Asset type first if the kind of item is not in the list yet, such as Laptop or Furniture. Save the type, then click Add asset.

Asset type: Required. The Add button beside this box creates a type without leaving the form.

Asset name: Required.

Serial number, value, and location: Optional.

Status: Available, Non functional, Lost, Damaged, or Under maintenance. Required.

Description and asset image: Optional.

Click Save.

The list shows the image, asset name, who it is lent to, and the status. A lent-to value of ... means nobody has it.

Open the actions menu on the row.

Edit changes the asset.

Lend employee appears when the status is Available. Use it to hand the asset to a staff member.

View lend and Return asset appear when the asset is already lent. Return asset brings it back.

Delete asset asks you to confirm, then removes the record.

Suggested order

1. Add the asset types you will use.

2. Add each asset as Available.

3. Lend it when a staff member takes it, and return it when it comes back.
