Creating classes

Menu: Manage Academics, then Student Classes.

Page title: Add class.

A class is a year group or grade, such as Primary 1, JSS 2, or Grade 10. The form is on the left. The list of classes already created is on the right.

Name: The class name shown on student records, fees, and reports. This is required.

Class other name: An optional second label, such as a short code or a local name. You can leave this blank.

Class capacity: The highest number of students this class should hold. Enter a number of at least 1. This is required.

Teacher: The class teacher. Choose a name from the teacher list. This is required. If the list is empty, add teachers first, then come back to this page.

Click Save. The new class appears in the list on the right, with its other name, capacity, and teacher. If a required field is empty, the page asks you to fill the required fields and does not save.

Edit or delete a class

The blue edit button opens the class so you can change the name, other name, capacity, or teacher.

The red delete button asks you to confirm before the class is removed. Delete a class only when it is no longer in use. Sections, subjects, and students that still point at that class will be left without it.

Upload many classes from Excel

Click Upload bulk classes from Excel at the top of the form.

1. Download the Excel template from the link in the window.

2. Fill the template with the class names, then save the file. Accepted files are xlsx, xls, and csv.

3. Choose that file.

4. Choose one teacher. That teacher is applied to the classes in this upload.

5. Click Upload and wait until the upload finishes. Do not close the window while it is working.
